Summer Camp Deadline

Just a reminder that this coming week is the regular deadline for summer camp. (May 14th, 2010) The cost for camp at the deadline is only $100 dollars and after this Friday it goes to $190 per student. You can download the registration packet HERE. Refocusing our Importance

Being a youth pastor one of my many fears is making sure I present the Gospel in the correct manner. I saw this video the other day and it challenged me with the focus that we use to share Christianity with children and students. Have we focused on teaching them morality can be achieved if we work hard enough? Like Matt shared, I will be good if I attend church, serve, don’t drink, don’t god to bad movies. It is not something that we might have meant to teach but is that how they have received it. But what does the bible say? See we are sinners saved by God’s Grace, not our actions, good intentions, or even our attendance and obey in the so called rules. It was God’s Grace alone that brings salvation. While we were sinners Christ died for us. Christ made it possible for me to accept his Grace, not because I did something but because of his love. If they understand Gods focus is not to make our lives easier but actually to share his Grace with us. If we can see this, then when trouble happens we understand He loves us instead of punishing us.

FCA Is Tuesday Morning

Hey High school students just wanted to remind you that this tuesday is FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) at Central High School. It all starts at 6:50 and goes to 7:20am. This is a great way for you to live out your faith at your school with others. I encourage everyone to make plans to attend.

Adventure Rangers Outing

Adventure Rangers will be traveling to the Journey Museum on Sunday May 16. This trip will take the place of writing a 500 word report for our citizenship merit. Bryan Jacobson will be leading this trip. I have included the specific information below and also included a permission slip that you need to fill out for the trip.

WHO: Adventure Rangers (Parents are encouraged to attend if they like)
WHAT: Field Trip to the Journey Museum
WHERE: Meet at Church near the back of the Church Administration Entrance @ 12:30 pm
WHEN: Sunday, 16 May – 12:30 to 3:30 pm
WHY: Remember the 500-word report ?? J
HOW: (More than one)
* Meet at Church with a sack-lunch/beverage.
* We’ll load up and drive to a park and eat our lunch. Then load up again and head
to the Journey Museum.
* Parents may pick up their Ranger at the Journey Museum or at Church ~ 3:45 pm.
* I will provide you with a “scavenger hunt” worksheet for data gathering.
* Entrance fee – $4.00 per Ranger
* Parents/Commanders – $7.00

Girls Night Out Info

Can you feel the excitement in the air? This Friday is Girls night out and it is almost here. This Friday Kim and the lady leaders will be meeting all the girls at the malls food court. There they will eat and hangout, and then they will travel over to the movie theater to watch the movie “Last Song”. The girls will need to be dropped off at the food court at 5pm and will need to be picked up at the movie theater next to the mall at 9:15pm. This is going to be a great way for girls to hang out and get to know other girls. You can bring your friends and hang out as this is a velcro event. We encourage every girl to bring $15-$20 dollars as the movie will cost $10 by itself. But the amount you bring is up to you as you will not turn in your money but pay for yourself throughout the night. I would like to say I will see you there, but I am not a girl so you will see Kim.

All Out War: Week One Recap

This past Wednesday we started our new series called, “All Out War”. It was a great week as we started learning about spiritual warfare and the armor of God. This week we talked about the Belt of Truth.

This week we also saw Reece try to win our game called Minute to Win. He was unable to complete the task in 60 seconds so Brittany won the “Starbucks Card” and Reece got the gag gift “Mike-in-ikes”. While Ben was the winner of our first of six free weeks of camp. If you want to win a free week of camp here is how;

Each week you get to put your name in the bucket for coming to youth. You get to place extra names in the bucket as follows;

Bring a Friend=10 names
Bible=10 Names

Upcoming Series: ALL OUT WAR

Over the next couple of weeks we are going to take a look at Spiritual warfare. We are going to break it down into understandable pieces and see how God is going to help us grow in our spiritual journey. Our main text for this series is;

¹⁰Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. ¹¹Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’sschemes. ¹²For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. ¹³Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may beable to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. ¹⁴Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, ¹⁵and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. ¹⁶In addition to all this, takeup the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. ¹⁷Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit,which is the word of God. ¹⁸And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. We want to encourage everyone to come each week expecting God to do some great things. On top of this we are going to have lots of fun games, prizes, and we will be giving a free week of camp away every week. So make plans to be here this Wednesday night at 6:25pm as we kick things off…
